Quordle questions and answers

How the game works and how to get the most out of the hints, solver and archive.

What is Quordle?

Classic Quordle challenges you to find four five-letter words in nine shared guesses. Each guess is checked separately against every board you have not solved.

How many guesses do I get?

Classic gives you nine guesses in total, shared across all four boards. Other Quordle modes can have different rules, so check the mode shown in your game.

What do the tile colors mean?

Green means the letter is in the correct position. Yellow means it belongs elsewhere in that board's answer. Gray means that occurrence is not needed in the answer. Repeated letters can produce a mix of colors, so read each board separately.

Can I get a hint without seeing an answer?

Yes. On today's puzzle, choose the board you need help with and open an individual hint such as the vowel count, the first letter or repeated letters. You can reveal more help gradually while keeping the answer hidden.

Can I reveal just one of the four answers?

Yes. Each board has its own Reveal this answer button. Revealing one board leaves the other three hidden. Use the separate Reveal all four answers button only when you want everything.

Can an answer contain repeated letters?

Yes. A letter can appear more than once. If a guess uses too many copies, one copy may be green or yellow while another is gray.

Why is a letter gray on one board and green on another?

Each board has a different answer and its own feedback. A letter ruled out on one board can still be useful on another.

How does the Quordle solver help?

Enter the guesses you have played and match the color feedback on each board. The solver uses those clues to narrow the list of possible answers and suggest next guesses. It does not play your official game for you.

Where can I find previous answers?

Use the archive to browse by date or search by puzzle number or word. Each dated page keeps the hints and discussion for that puzzle.

What if the answers do not match my game?

First check that the date and mode match the ones shown in your game. Quordle starts a new puzzle at midnight in your own time zone, so near midnight you may be on a different day than us. If they still differ, use our correction form and include the date, mode and affected board so we can investigate.

Is this the official Quordle website?

No. Quordle Answers is an independent companion. Play the official game on Merriam-Webster's website.

Do I need an account to join the discussion?

No account is required. You can use a display name to comment and share your result. New comments are reviewed before they appear publicly. Our privacy page explains what is stored.
